Monday, August 27th, 2007Remember Pedro, the donkey who was charged with braying too loud and whose owner was hauled into court? (See April 22, 2007 blog under “The Birds and Bees and Other Beasties.)
Well, now he really has something to bray about. He has been named “best looking donkey” at the region’s annual Donkey fair in Moyaux in Normandy.

“He really is the sweetest donkey,” said Yvan Barbieri, who was assigned to the Pedro case by the Fondation Assistance aux Animaux and the Fondation Brigitte Bardot, which provided financial support for the legal battle. For two years, Barbieri worked with Pedro and his owner, Marie-Therese Lecouvreur. “In all that time, I never once heard Pedro bray,” Barbieri said. “Not a single time. Not one sound out of him.”
Now, however, who could blame him if he did a little braying?
